Policy Fellows Leadership Program
The Policy Fellows Leadership Program (PFLP) aims to increase and strengthen Latino voices and influence in Texas policymaking. It is a collaborative program with multiple academic-based Latino Institutes and community non-profit sponsors and partners. Public policies matter because they affect our daily lives in ways that help or obstruct opportunities for social and economic mobility.
The PFLP is a year long and begins with a 2-day intensive policy development training, followed by targeted skill development workshops, mentoring, and networking activities.
Key Fellowship Objectives:
-
- * To increase and strengthen Latino leadership by contributing to policy research, development, and advocacy.
- * To enhance the capacity of prospective and current Latino researchers to contribute to public policy through skill development.
- * To reimagine and bridge the relationship between policy research and leadership skills to strengthen the position and influence of Latino researchers.
The 16 selected Fellows are from across the state and include graduate and doctoral-level students, faculty, and researchers from non-profit organizations. Each Fellow is committed to strengthening Latino Bienestar by conducting Latino-focused research and translating that research into policy documents to inform, educate, and influence equitable public policymaking.
