Training
Leadership and skills development training is conducted to strengthen and increase Latino influence on public policymaking. Training priorities focus on strengthening and increasing the Latino community’s capacity and voices in policy development, communications, and messaging.
In November 2023, the LTPC – Policy Fellows Leadership Program (PFLP) pilot program was launched with a 2-day training titled “Making Research Count: Translating Latino Research Into Policy”. The launch was implemented with co-sponsorship and partnership support of multiple academic-base Latino Institutes, and community non-profit organizations.
The PFLP program is a 12-month initiative focused on increasing Latino policy research leadership that informs and influences crucial policymaking decisions. The Fellowship is a year-long and begins with a 2-day intensive policy skills development training, followed by targeted skill development workshops, mentoring, and networking activities. The 2nd PFLP is targeted for implementation in the Fall of 2024 with a cohort of 10-15 selected Fellows from eligible graduate and doctoral-level students, faculty, and non-profit organization candidates.
